Delay to Alton Towers SW6 Plans Decision

Posted on February 12th, 2009

Due to the filing of 39 letters of complaint against Alton Towers plans to build Secret Weapon 6 the decision on whether to grant permission for the ride has been postponed. Instead the plans will be analysed at next month’s meeting.

Most of the objections have been centred around issues such as fear of noise, the appearance (and bulk of the ride station); as well as the attractions proximity to a a discovered to an Iron Age hillfort.

Its expected that council will use the time to re-evaluate the plans before coming to its final decision next month.

Alton Towers Reject Bypass Plans

Posted on December 19th, 2008

Alton Towers have rejected calls for the building of a Bypass which local residents have campaigned for the last 20 years. The Bypass which wold be built to ease the congestion 2.4 million people bring to the small countries roads surrounding the park.

But after the local Council stated it would not invest any capital into the project (which coincidentally would be a public road, free for all to use) the Bypass would cost the park an estimated £12 million to build (equivalent to amount approximated in the press that SW6 wil cost).

A spokesman for the park said: “We cannot say that is the end of the matter but it is not in our long-term development plans to revisit the idea of a relief road in the next 10 years.”

SF Kentucky Kingdom Settles Injury Lawsuit

Posted on December 2nd, 2008

A confidential, out of court settlement has been reached between Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom and Kaitlyn Lassiter, whose foot was severed last year on the Superman Tower of Power ride.

The amount of the settlement is undisclosed.

An investigation last May led to state officials the severity of the incident may have been reduced if the ride operators had followed manufacturers instructions on cable deterioration. The amusement park, which was fined just $1,000, the maximum allowed at the time, denied liability in the lawsuit and blamed the accident largely on the ride’s manufacturer. Meanwhile, Kentucky Kingdom have a pending lawsuit against Intamin Ltd, the rides manufacturer.

Since the incident, the ride has been removed.

Your Very Own Themepark, For Just $35 million!

Posted on November 22nd, 2008

Hard Rock ParkThe ill-fated Hard Rock Park is to go on auction on 15th December for a small bargain of $35 million (£23 million GBP).

The $400 million Hard Rock Park has struggled to attract visitors in its first season, forcing its owners to declare bankruptcy back in September.

Bidders must show they can meet the minimum $35 million price, put up 10 percent of that as cash, and prove they have enough money and experience to run the business.

Officials at the park have stated that the Park will not open in 2009 unless a buyer is found.
